Nashville cops trade fire with leprechaun
Two bank robbers shot dead after St Patrick's Day heist
Tennessee cops yesterday shot dead two fugitives - one dressed as a leprechaun - after the pair robbed a branch of the First State Bank in Nashville.
According to AP, one of the men, dressed in "a green top hat, vest and shorts and a fake brown beard and wig", first walked into a Fifth Third Bank in the suburb of Gallatin, then appeared to change his mind.
Manager Sharon Riehemann explained: "He started to come in, then looked at his watch, then turned around and left."
The leprechaun then entered the First State Bank bank next door, and a couple of minutes later "ran out of the bank with a blue bag in his hands", Riehemann said.
He and his accomplice fled the scene in a get-away car, which was quickly located and pursued by cops. During the chase, the perps fired on police vehicles, disabling one.
The pair eventually ditched their own wheels and ran into a field, but were killed while exchanging fire with officers.
Police recovered the stolen cash from the perps' car, whose identities have not been released. Local news outlet WSMV has more here. ®
