A British woman who used to tip the scales at 114kg (18 stone) has proclaimed that Wii Fit saved her life, after she lost a whopping 50kg playing the Nintendo videogame.

In just one year, Laura Roberts of Farnborough, Hampshire went from size 22 to size 10 by exercising with Wii Fit for one hour each day, the News of The World reports.

At the same time Laura – who told the newspaper that she used to feel like a “beached whale” – also stopped eating her daily 4000 calorie diet of crisps, cakes and pizza, which, Register Hardware is certain, also had something to do with her weight loss.

Since the Wii was launched in Blighty in December 2006, many studies have been run to try and discover if a daily diet of Wii and healthy eating can aid weight loss. None have ever conclusively proven that the console can. ®
