Macworld UK has warned its readers not to trust retail website MacSaga.com - which claims to be owned by the magazine’s publisher, IDG Communications.

MacSaga’s 'About Us' page says: “This website is owned and operated by IDG Communications Limited of 101 Euston Road, London, NW1 2RA, United Kingdom.” The contact number it quotes is IDG’s switchboard. No other contact details are provided – the only way to get in touch is a form on the website.

“We sell magazines and advertising on our websites,” said Macworld UK Editor Mark Hattersley. “But we sure as heck have nothing to do with these guys.

"Please don't order anything from them."

Punters might be tempted by MacSaga’s double-digit discounts on the full array of Apple hardware. The site claims to be an authorised Apple reseller, but a search of Apple UK’s retailers did not reveal the MacSaga name.

MacSaga.com’s Whois entry states the site’s administrative and technical contact is Whois Privacy Protection Service, Inc., a US company apparently based in Bellevue, Washington. The Whois Privacy Protection Service website, as listed in the Whois entry, is little more than a series of adverts. ®
