O2 has suspended its popular 'Mobile Landline' service temporarily. The service provides business with a landline number that reroutes to an O2 SIM, without connection charges, an attractive proposition for SMEs.

An O2 distie blames "uncertainty regarding one of the current suppliers of the service".

Resellers in O2's channel have been told the telco won't process Mobile Landline sales and they have been asked to stop giving out O2 Mobile Landline numbers for now. "In order to provide an uninterrupted service to O2 customers, they have moved to an interim offering. This is a temporary measure while they work on a more permanent solution," one distie says.

Officially, customers are being told here that service may be affected. According to a statement:

We’re confident that most customers won’t experience any changes to their service; however some customers may lose some Mobile Landline features as we migrate over to our new platform. We will contact all customers currently using Mobile Landline to explain what this interim service means to them.

When we rang O2 Press Office, we got an automated message which told us they'd be away until January 6 and gave us the same number to call with the automated message telling us they'd would be away until January... you get the picture.
