Modern Warfare 2 hit by anti-gay claim
In-game remark sparks indignation
Videogame Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 contains a homophobic slur, it has been claimed.
Shortly after the weapons tutorial at the beginning of the game, and when the player has no equipment, he is asked by another if he has ever seen a grown man naked.
After a few laughs, the player's character appears to ask: "Hey man, are you still gay?"
Although the character then says he's only kidding, he follows the remark up with: "Don’t ask don’t tell."

The interchange is part of a hidden 'Easter Egg' section, a sequence many players will not see. But that hasn't stopped pundits proclaiming the game to be homophobic.
Or it might just be the papers attempting to make more out of lame dialogue than it warrants.
That said, Infinity Ward, the game's developer - which has yet to make an official statement about the claim - has been accused of homophobia before.
Earlier this year, the firm pulled a spoof online advert for the game in which public service announcements were broadcast by the "Fight Against Grenade Spam" association. We'll leave it up to you to work that one out. ®
