Twitter is close to hatching a paid-for business version of the micro-blogging service, while adding support for more languages.

Website co-founder Biz Stone said onstage during a recent financial conference that those who sign up for future commercial accounts will gain access to "a view into everything about Twitter to better exploit Twitter's marketing prowess," reports the Wall Street Journal.

Stone said Twitter will give access to some of its user-behavior data both free and for a licensing fee, although the company hasn't yet decided on the scope of the feature.

He also said within the "next month or so," the company plans to launch French, Italian, German and Spanish versions of the website to expand its influence abroad.

Stone for quite some time now has been teasing the idea of letting the website actually generate some revenue for the company. While the micro-blog service is remarkably popular — to the extend that Tweeting is an acceptable verb — it is still almost entirely funded by venture capital investments to the tune of $135 million.

Despite having no solid plans on revenue, Stone doesn't appear to be put back by outside pressure to justify the heavy investments.

"We wouldn't have received that money without investors' confidence," Stone said. ®
