Give the learned gents a hand

A Lords Committee is investigating European Union policy on cyber attacks and is calling for evidence from industry and other interested parties.

The ermine-clad gents, and two ladies, are particularly interested in how vulnerable the internet is to a widespread failure because of an attack such as those previously aimed at Estonia and Georgian, or to failure due to a natural disaster.

Also in the Lords' sights are the role of NATO in defending cyberspace, and the scale of problems created by criminal botnets.

The European Commission is calling for a pan-European approach to critical infrastructure and the Lords will question this view. They also ask whether public-private partnerships could be encouraged at a European level or whether a worldwide approach would be more effective.

Written evidence needs to be in by 13 November - more details available from here, as a pdf. ®
