T-Mobile: Google to open Android Market to Win Mo apps

Surely some mistake?

Google has extended the reach of the Android Market online app store to Windows Mobile devies... if T-Mobile UK is to be believed.

The carrier this week put up a page on its website for the upcoming HTC Touch HD2.

The handset, due this month, numbers, says T-Mobile, a "huge 3.8in touchscreen [that] keeps everything at your fingertips" and a "five megapixel camera for great photos" among the handsets "biggest boasts".

The best part: "Choose from loads of applications to download from Android Market."

But what's that in the top left corner of the HD2's screen? Yes, the Windows Mobile Start menu.

HTC did at one point say the HD2 would be based on Android, but more recently company CEO Peter Chou said that while this was possible, HTC decided to stick with Windows Mobile because it needs to "take care" of the Microsoft OS. ®
