The inflexible nature of the Swedish government's employment policies was starkly illustrated this week, after a would-be care assistant was forced out of his job after taking on an internship in a porn shop.

Niclas Nilsson has accused his local employment office of discrimination following being axed from his part-time job as a personal care assistant with a staffing agency, after taking on the unpaid smut monger role.

Nilsson told Swedish news site thelocal that he'd loved his job as a care assistant, but was told by the unemployment office that he had to flesh out his working week by finding another part time gig.

Apparently Nilsson knew his local Erotic Video outlet - Northern Sweden’s largest selection of erotic films and sex toys, apparently - was short on bodies, and so took on an "intern" role there.

However, there was hell to pay when the staffing agency tumbled to his role on the filth palace's checkout desk. His boss at the care agency cut his hours and took him off the rota, before telling him he was no longer considered suitable for the care assistant role.

Nilsson has filed a discrimination claim against the agency, saying his care role looking after old folk shouldn't have been compromised by an internship taking cash from dirty old men, and claimed his supervisor had acted unprofessionally.

"Losing my job over it was just one more blow below the belt," he said. ®
