Google has slotted anchor links into some search engine results to help users more quickly find what they’re looking for when looking up a complex query.

"We've enhanced the search snippet with two new features that make it easier to find information buried deep within a page," said Google’s Chris Kern in a blog post on Friday.

The feature allows users to jump straight to relevant content, which is especially helpful for anyone searching through lengthy text, said Google.

There are links to specific sections within a page containing subtopics about a given query punched into the Google search page.

The deep links are generated "completely algorithmically" said Google on its webmaster central blog.

It was also at pains to point out that no money was involved for anyone thinking they can make a quick buck from the feature as "you can't pay to get these links".

Google added: "The new in-snippet links only appear for relevant queries, so you won't see it on the results all the time - only when we think that a link to a section would be highly useful for a particular query." ®
