If you’re thinking of buying a Wii, hold off until next week. Why? Because Nintendo’s inked plans to lower the console’s trade price.

From 2 October, the Wii’s basic SKU will carry a trade price of £180 ($295/€200) – roughly £20 cheaper than it has been for the last six months.

The updated price will bring the console back down to the price charged in stores for the console prior to Nintendo’s controversial price hike back in March.

The basic Will SKU will also, from early October, come with a MotionPlus peripheral and copies of both Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort.

It’s worth remembering the Wii price cut only applies to the trade price, meaning retailers can still charge whatever they want. ®
