Acer has confirmed that its F1 smartphone will be launched next month.

Little has been heard about the device since Acer first spoke about its development back in March. However, the firm has since told Register Hardware that the F1 will be available in time for the launch of Windows Mobile 6.5 – otherwise known as 6 October.

Acer hasn’t released the F1’s full technical specifications, yet. Thankfully though online retailer Clove has already launched a detailed pre-order page for the device, the listed specifications of which Acer has confirmed as correct.

“The information on this website is true and Clove will be selling the device as soon as it lands in the UK”, said Acer.

The F1 runs on a Qualcomm 8250 1GHz processor, features a 3.8in touchscreen display and has a customisable widget-based interface, Clove said.

A 5Mp camera is included – with images and videos stored onto MicroSD memory cards of up to 32GB – and wireless web access is possible over 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi.

The phone’s other features include quad-band GSM connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1, a 3.5mm headphone jack and – of course – an integrated accelerometer, Clove added.

Acer’s F1 smartphone is available to pre-order through Clove, priced at £340 ($550/€375) – including VAT. ®
