Orange reckons the future's bright again
Critical infrastructure, ya say?
Orange UK tells us that their data network is back up and running again, and that both broadband and mobile customers should have full connectivity working now.
While the outage hasn't affected every Orange customer it has left a significant number without connectivity for the whole day thanks to a combination of problems.
The Blackberry service was apparently taken out of action thanks to a cable being cut by vandals. As the company explains: "We can confirm the issue was a result of vandalism to cabling infrastructure, supplied to us by a third party provider in the Heathrow area of London."
We understand that the third party is Cable & Wireless, but it's worrying that what has become such a critical piece of infrastructure can be brought down by vandals.
The problems with Orange broadband were, apparently, unrelated, but have also now been fixed and everything should be just tickety boo by now: do let us know if you know different. ®
