Grand Theft Auto IV’s developer, Rockstar, has taken the wraps off of the title’s second update, to be called The Ballad of Gay Tony.

The next GTA IV update (above) will feature more guns, glitz and crime

Apparently the episode – which comes after The Lost and Damned, released back in February – focuses on “high-end nightlife” and provides lots of new gameplay possibilities.

With guns, glitz and crime a prerequisite, you’ll be introduced to part-time hoodlum Luis Lopez – a full-time assistant to the legendary nightclub impresario Tony Prince (aka Gay Tony).

You’ll have to struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends, as you try to juggle the uncertainty of determining who’s real and who’s a faker.

Rockstar’s not giving much away about what new gameplay possibilities you’ll get from the update, but Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games, has promised that its episodic structure allowed the firm to “interweave stories, gameplay and atmosphere in a whole new way”.

The Ballad of Gay Tony will be available to download exclusively through the Xbox 360 this autumn, priced at $20 (£12/€14) or 1600 Microsoft points. Alternatively, you’ll be able to buy a disc loaded with both the latest episode and The Lost and Damned for $40. ®
