A website that published pictures of what's claimed to be the new slimline PlayStation 3's bodywork has been told to axe the shots.

An unnamed Chinese company told Engadget to “immediately remove those pages” that contained images of the slimline case. The shots were originally published on a Chinese-language blog.

As you can see, the lawyers also asked for the cease and desist order to be kept confidential. Engadget published it anyway and has, so far, not taken down the pics.

The images have disappeared from the original poster’s blog.

Chinese lawyers have yet to come knocking on Register Hardware’s door, but their actions so far will only intensify speculation that the published images are, in fact, real. ®
