All the hype surrounding Palm’s Pré has led to many unanswered questions about its features. Which IM services will the smartphone support? Will PictBridge be available? So a Sprint insider’s compiled answers to some common Pré FAQs.

The blog – written by a Sprint employee, but which has no official connection to the US network carrier – provides answers to 15 Pré queries in all. Take several pinches of salt, though, because we’ve no way of authenticating the blogger’s information.

Nonetheless, the first FAQ answered states that the smartphone’s backup feature will be free of charge – provided you’re a North American customer signed onto a Sprint contract, of course.

Slightly disappointing is confirmation that when the Pré’s in USB storage mode, you won’t be able to take calls because the phone will automatically route to voicemail.

Two IM services will be supported at launch: Google Talk and AIM. Could the mention of “at launch” be an indication that more IM services will be supported once the phone’s been available for a while?

Documents created in Microsoft Office 2007 will also be supported on the Pré, which runs Palm’s own WebOS.

Other FAQs answered by the blogger include confirmation that there isn’t a profile for the PictBridge wireless printing standard yet, and news that you won’t be able to shoot video.
