China launches DNA database to track trafficked kids

China's Ministry of Public Security is to use DNA testing to help police identify kidnapped children and return them to their homes.
The database is meant to help deal with children who are kidnapped or abducted for money.
Five groups will be tested according to the report:
- parents whose children have been confirmed kidnapped
- parents whose children are lost and ask for the test
- abducted children who have been rescued by the police
- children suspected of being abducted or cannot give a home address
- and homeless children.
The Ministry recently launched its sixth campaign against the abduction of women and children. There are about 3,000 abduction cases every year in China although some observers believe there could be as many as 20,000 victims each year.
Authorities also issued a list of 10 people suspected of operating abduction rings.
Police in Guangdong and Hunan used DNA testing on three abducted children found last month. All the kids were returned to their parents in Dongguan.
