If you were one of the unlucky early adopters who bet your cash on HD DVD, now’s your chance to switch to Blu-ray, because Warner’s launched a disc swap service.

The scheme allows you to post the firm your HD DVD copy of, say, 300, and in return you’ll receive a Blu-ray edition of the same movie.

There are a few catches, though. For example, you’ll have to pay roughly $5 per swap – so the Blu-ray you receive won’t exactly be free, but how many shops do you know selling individual Blu-ray films for $5?

You’ll also have to pay postage costs, and each customer is limited to 25 HD DVD swaps.

Unfortunately, Warner’s Blu-ray swap shop service is currently only available in the US. But, hopefully, it’s inked a secret plan to launch it in the UK launch. ®
