The Viewty's successor

LG has today officially announced one of the worst kept mobile phone secrets in recent months: the launch of the Viewty Smart.
LG's Viewty Smart: slim and feature-packed
The firm’s German arm accidentally published the phone's details last week, but LG later promised that it would today officially unveil the phone in the UK - and it’s kept its promise.
Widely regarded as the Viewty’s successor, the LG Viewty Smart – also known as the LG-GC900 — has an 8Mp camera embedded into its rear. Photo features include an ISO sensitivity of up to 1600 and an “intelligent Shot Mode” that compares an image’s subject, background and lighting conditions against seven pre-set scenarios to help take “perfect pictures every time”.
Face detection for multiple faces is also included, and you’ll be able to brighten up your images using the flash - LED not xenon, alas. Several pre-programmed photography settings are included, such as Touch Shot, Art Shot and Beauty Shot.
Touch your way around the phone's 3D UI
The phone features LG’s 3D cube-style user interface – as seen on the Arena – and has an 800 x 480, 3in touchscreen display.
Web access is possible over the HSDPA 3G connection of up to 7.2Mb/s and Viewty Smart also supports Wi-Fi. Assisted GPS is on board too.
Although the phone only has a 1.5GB internal storage capacity, you’ll be able to slot in Micro SD cards of up to 32GB. It’s worth noting that the phone is a measly 12.4mm thick and weighs in at pocket friendly 90g.
LG’s Viewty Smart will be available from Orange in the UK next month. A price hasn’t been unveiled. ®
