When naming a handset after a city, phone manufacturers usually pick somewhere glamorous like Vegas or NYC. But Samsung’s executives have clearly spent too long drinking in one university’s infamous student union, because it’s rumoured the firm’s inked plans to call an upcoming phone the Preston.

Bloggers over at website Omio claim to have seen “Orange’s UK Q2 launch schedule”, which details the network provider’s plans to launch the Samsung Preston in May this year.

We don’t know if the handset will be equipped with a “chip butty” feature or option to find out what time Preston’s greatest nightclub – Tokyo Joe's – closes.

But the document reportedly stated that the Preston phone will be available in black, pink or white – but not blue and white to match the city’s famous football club.

Orange’s leaked document also supposedly mentioned launch of an LG handset in June, called the GW520 Calisto. Sadly, the leak didn’t reveal any technical details about the LG phone. ®
