Wi-Fi BlackBerry Storm rumour blows in

Storm 2 to replace Storm... er... 1?

The BlackBerry Storm’s lack of Wi-Fi support is arguably its most disappointing feature. But all that will change if rumours of a Wi-Fi capable model prove true.

Called, unimaginatively, the Storm 2, “a source very close to the issue” has told website Slash Gear that US network operator Verizon has given the Storm’s manufacturer, Research In Motion, the go-ahead to launch a Wi-Fi enabled model in September.

We’d wager this means that Storm 2 is, so far, only destined for North American shores. But a better connected Storm is bound to find its into Blighty, isn’t it?

The report didn’t leak any further concrete details about what potential improvements, if any, could arrive on the Storm 2. ®
