Sony's Walkman X1000: arriving at Amazon within weeks

Two capacities of the iPod Touch-style PMP will be made available: 16GB and 32GB. Amazon’s priced the lower capacity model – known as the NWZX1050B – at £214 ($305/€238) and the larger capacity PMP – the NWZX1060B – at £283 ($403/€316).

Sony didn’t reveal shipping dates for either model when it unveiled that duo at CES in Las Vegas last month. But Amazon’s confirmed that both can be ordered online now. However, it won’t dispatch them for another two to five weeks.

The X1000’s shape differs little from previous Walkman models. But Sony claimed upon launch that the PMP’s 432 x 240 resolution screen ensures that still images and videos display “incredible colours and contrast”.

Both have touch sensitive screens, Wi-Fi connectivity, an integrated FM tuner and three stages of digital noise cancellation. ®
