Huawei talks up Android phone
To be unveiled next month
Huawei has said it’ll unveil a smartphone based on Google’s Android OS at handset industry shindig the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona next month.
The firm’s announcement is annoyingly vague and, despite Register Hardware’s attempts to tease more information out of a spokeswoman, we still only received a “wait and see” response.
Huawei - best known for its HSDPA USB dongles - isn’t famed for its mobile phones, but an Android smartphone won’t be its first ever handset. The company launched a 3G clamshell – the U636 - in Asia back in 2005 and recently unveiled the rather smart looking U1215 – an Edge phone with a 1.3Mp camera.
