CES Eye-Fi has developed an SD memory card able to upload videos directly onto YouTube from your compact camera.

The firm’s keeping mum for now about the Wi-Fi card’s exact specifications, but it has promised that the video upload process is possible without “the fuss of special software”.

Eye-Fi made headlines at last year’s CES when it displayed a Wi-Fi SD card capable of able to uploading still images directly onto photo sharing sites.

Jef Holove, Chief Executive of Eye-Fi, said: “We're aiming to do for video what we've already done for photos: provide the easiest, simplest way to save and share your digital memories”.

Eye-Fi has roughly 10,000 hotspot locations in the US over which subscribers can already upload still images from their Eye-Fi cards. But the firm said it’s also designing a video upload service to support full-resolution HD video.

Users will also be able to use the new card to upload videos directly onto their home computer.

Although the upcoming SD card’s capacity hasn’t been announced yet, Eye-Fi will demonstrate the technology at CES this week. ®
