Flip pocket camcorder goes HD

The Flip pocket camcorder range brought basic video capture to the masses when the first model launched earlier this year. But now the device’s video quality has been boosted, with the creation of an HD model.
The Flip Mino HD captures content at 720p resolution, so could be disappointing to HD TV fans who’ve become used to full 1080p hi-def.

Nonetheless, the HD shooter’s integrated 4GB memory will still hold up to 60 minutes of video. But it’s disappointing to see that the camcorder’s 1.5in LCD screen hasn’t been enlarged.
Touch-sensitive buttons let you navigate around the Mino HD’s menu system, and the shooter has a 2x digital zoom. A tripod mount’s also hidden away underneath the gadget.
The flip-out USB connector – which made the camcorder range so famous – is still there, but it’s been moved from the side to the top of the machine.
The camcorder comes bundled with FlipShare software for organising, editing and sharing your cinematic masterpieces.
Pure Digital Technologies’ Flip Mino HD is available now for around $230 (£150/€180).
