Payments made to PayPal's top-up card on Wednesday of this week have still not appeared on account balances, and the company is unable to tell angry customers when the problem will be fixed.

Several Reg readers got in touch about the problem. The PayPal card is a prepaid Visa card that can be used online or in shops. The card's account can have credit added to it via a website or by cash at the Post Office or PayPoint outlets. The card costs £4.95 to buy and charges £2 to use an ATM.

Register readers complained that money added to their cards on Wednesday has still not appeared on account balances.

One reader said he was told the reason for the failure was a missing batch file. This meant the transactions had effectively disappeared. The company was unable to email customers because it did not know who was affected.

Some irritated customers have started posting on eBay's forums.

We spoke to PayPal's PR this morning to ask when the problem would be fixed, but have yet to get a response. ®
