If you’d like to lose yourself in an e-book, but don’t want the expense or inconvenience of a large Sony Reader or Amazon Kindle, then hopefully Vodafone's latest idea will keep you reading.

Vodafone's Books on Mobile service: download novels direct to your phone

The network operator, together with digital publisher GoSpoken.com, has launched Books on Mobile (BoM), a service that lets Vodafone customers download either e-books from their favourite authors.

The BoM service is bound to be a hit with anyone looking for ways to avoid carrying heavy books around. But we reckon the Kindle and Reader's E Ink screen is much easier on the eyes than your average phone display.

Nonetheless, Vodafone’s BoM service is available from today for Vodafone customers. Book downloads are priced at between £5 (£6/$8) and £15 (£19/$26), and are added to you monthly bill.
