After Barclays customers suffered serious login problems earlier this week, Barclaycard customers are now struggling to use their online service.

Problems at the credit card provider began last week with its online system crippled in a two-day total outage, and the login for cardholders is still having difficulties. Many customers were unable to log in at all.

A spokesman for Barclaycard told the Reg: "It's a totally different system to Barclays, the problems are unrelated. We had a two-day outage last week which has led to increased demand.

"We are also moving across cardholders from Discover Finance Services [better known as Morgan Stanley's Goldfish card holders] which has also added to demand."

The spokesman said the company had added 50 per cent more capacity to systems to cope with the increased demand, and was currently testing a way to add even more to the system.

"We are really sorry to our customers who have been inconvenienced by this. We are still monitoring it and will take more action if it is necessary."

Incensed customers are venting their fury in forums.

Here's hoping the weekend gives Barclaycard time to get that fix installed. ®
