'We'll sell 10m PS3s inside one year,' says Sony
Still no sign of a price cut, though

Sony Computer Entertainment America chief Jack Tretton has forecast that the firm will have sold 10m PlayStation 3s by the end of its current financial year.
According to a Reuters, Tretton said yesterday that the firm’s “in good shape” and “about 30 per cent ahead of where we should be” in terms of global sales.
The firm’s never widely publicised its 10m 12-month global sales forecast, but Tretton added that although “sales could slow down” the firm will still hit its target.
Sony's current financial year ends 31 March 2009.
Tretton's PS3 world sales forecast came in the week that analyst GfK Chart Track said that the console was currently in third position in the UK. Between September 2007 and 2008, roughly 1m PS3s were sold, while Nintendo shifted 2.5m Wiis and Microsoft sold 1m Xbox 360s.
Sony also expects to have sold 15m PlayStation Portable handhelds by the end of its financial year.
The Japanese giant will be pleased with the latest sales figures from local market watcher Enterbrain, which found that – in Japan – the PSP was the strongest selling console between April and September this year, notching up sales of 1.58m units. The PSP’s closest rival, Nintendo’s DS, sold 1.31m units during the same period.
