If there’s nothing on TV tonight, then how about having a conversation with your telly instead? Because, LG has created a stylish LCD display with an integrated webcam.

LG's W2271TC TV, with webcam

The 22in 1680 x 1050 resolution W2271TC screen is LG’s attempt at merging a modern day telly with “innovate features,” the combination of which it hopes will appeal to everyone from students to business executives working at home.

The screen’s webcam can be used for the likes of video conferences and live video messaging. Of course, VoIP chats will also be possible thanks to the screen’s integrated microphone and speakers. Additional video-based features include video recording, still image capture, zooming capabilities and face tracking.

LG’s also equipped the set with several fun features, letting you add colourful frames to live video conferences or overlay a beard onto your friend’s face as you chat. Although the webcam’s position is fixed within the telly, LG said the set can be tilted to adjust the camera’s angle slightly.

The W2271TC has a 170° viewing angle and 20,000:1 contrast ratio. It comes in a black gloss frame and has an “electric blue” power button too.

A release date or price hasn’t shown up yet.
