VMware's storage parent EMC is providing back-end support for Microsoft’s Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V and the firm’s System Centre management suite.

The infrastructure giant said today that it will cough up broad technology support and solutions for Microsoft’s new virtualisation strategy and portfolio.

EMC reckoned the move would benefit customers keen to squeeze as much juice as possible out of their MS virt tech investment.

"Microsoft's suite of virtualisation technologies, combined with EMC's innovative storage and information management solutions, enables customers to realise these benefits and achieve a more dynamic IT environment," opined senior EMC consulting veep Tom Roloff, who didn’t once mention VMware’s ESXi hypervisor.

"EMC is well positioned to assist customers adopting Microsoft virtualisation technologies through our leading Microsoft consultancy, storage technology integration across Microsoft's broad product portfolio and deep experience in information infrastructure for virtual environments."

EMC is not alone in clambering aboard Microsoft’s Hyper-V hyperdrive marketing wagon. HP, Sun Microsystems, NetApp, Compellent Technologies and AMD have all been spotted getting down and virty with Microsoft today. ®
