Zune ownership is still a dream for many European music fans. But one designer’s dreamt up a concept wireless speaker for the player, that’ll also scare away any monsters lurking under your child’s bed.

Zune Bug: a concept wireless speaker for Zune players

Designer Ashley Payne has no official affiliation with Microsoft’s Zune arm, as far as we know, but his concept Zune Bug is designed to receive music transmitted from the player and then pump it out through a small speaker.

It also acts as a nightlight

The so-called Zune Bug’s capable of emitting several different colours too, which Payne envisages changing according to musical frequency. For example, play a fast, high-pitched Bee Gees track and you might get a bright red light, but play a slow Barry White melody and the Bug could shine a dull red.

The Bug’s colour capabilities are also designed to power-up when it’s surrounded by low lighting level – which makes it sound more like a nightlight than a speaker.

A nice feature is that the Zune Bug plugs directly into a plug socket, again much like a nightlight, so there’s no need for messy cables.
