JVC pitches deeper driver in-ear 'phones
These cans will be earwax magnets
Most people know the dangers of sticking cotton buds right into their ears, but how would you feel about doing the same with a pair of headphones, even if it meant better audio clarity?
In-ear 'phone drive locations: deeper with JVC
Well, JVC wants you to do just that with its HP-FXC50 headphones, which actually slide inside the wearer’s ear canal for, it’s claimed, better comfort and clarity.
The headphones are the world’s first ear-bud style cans to have a driver unit located within the sound channel – the part that enters your ear canal - rather than outside it. This is achieved by making the driver unit extremely thin – just 5.8mm in diameter.
It’s also claimed that because the distance between the driver unit and sound drum membrane is shorter than it is with other ear buds, the HP-FXC50 cans minimise sound leakage and block out external sounds more effectively.
No firm release date for the cans has been heard yet, but they are set to go on sale in Japan for around ¥4000 (£19/€24/$37).
