The Sidekick handset's been released in so many versions that we’re starting to get confused. Now it’s come to light that another model’s set to slide onto the market within two weeks.

According to a report by BGR, the latest model is called, ingeniously, the Sidekick 2008. The website’s managed to lay its hands on, what looks to be, detailed T-Mobile documents that outline some of the upcoming phone's features.

T-Mobile’s aiming the 2008 model, much like previous models such as the Tony Hawk edition phone, at the “young and social consumer” wanting to customise their phone with Nokia Xpress-On style covers. The phone comes with two “shells” – one black and one with a “metallic green” design.

The phone, which is manufactured by Motorola, has a basic two-megapixel camera, while the 2.9in screen slides up over the phone’s keys in the usual format. Bluetooth with A2DP stereo connectivity is included too. T-Mobile’s document also mentions connectivity to the likes of instant messenger and MySpace.

T-Mobile’s Sidekick 2008 is set to be released on 30 July, initially in the US, we'd say.
