Sony Ericsson’s C905 8Mp handset isn’t even out yet, but it’s already set the bar for cameraphone quality. It’s rumoured LG could be the third manufacturer to release an equally high-quality snapper phone.

SE’s recent announcement was quickly overshadowed by rumours of an 8Mp phone from Motorola, thought to be codenamed 'Alexander'. However, in third place comes LG, also rumoured to be prepping a cameraphone, the KC910, of the same image resolution.

The news comes from an anonymous mole at Mobilecowboys.com, who claims to have seen a TV advert for the phone.

The source also claims to know that LG’s eight-megapixel phone will have an Xenon flash, along with image stabilisation and face recognition – two features which are becoming increasingly common in high-end cameraphones.

But the camera specs don’t stop there. It’s also claimed that the phone will be able to record video at a resolution of 720 x 480, and at 30 frames per second.

Other parts of the phone will be just as impressive, it’s claimed. For example, a toughened WVGA touchscreen will be built into the talker, and it’ll run on a “completely new” user interface – although no details of what changes users can expect have been given.

Oh, and the whole phone will supposedly be only 14mm thick and encased in aluminium.

The sad news is that no pictures of the rumoured device have surfaced yet, but we’ll let you know more as we get anything more.
