Nokia has unveiled a trio of handsets that blend good old-fashioned useful features with smooth lines and nicely coloured bodies.

First up is the 6600, which comes as either a clamshell or a slider. The clamshell model, the 6600 Fold, boasts a 2.1in internal OLED display and a “hidden outer display” that can be awoken with a double tap – letting you get a quick view of the time and received messages or missed calls. The same tapping motion also puts the phone into sleep mode too.

Although the 3G phone has a two-megapixel camera, the 6600 clamshell is outdone by the 6600 Slide’s more powerful 3.2-megapixel snapper. The slider displays images on a 2.2in, 240 x 320 touch-sensitive screen and has a similar double-tap function.

The 3600 is Nokia's first phone to cancel background noise

The 3600 is also constructed as a slider, but is the first Nokia phone to feature background noise cancellation, which is bound to set it ahead of the two 6600s if noisy calls really get your goat. Posers will probably also like the 3600’s gradient paint job.

The phone’s 3.2-megapixel camera comes with autofocus functionality, and Nokia claims the integrated LED flash will help make the most of videos images taken in poorly lit areas.

All three phones will be available in Europe within the next few months. The 6600 Fold will cost €275 (£215/$430), while the Slide will only set you back €250 (£200/$400). The 3600 is expected to cost €175 (£137/$272).
