A US student has come up with a solution to the sometimes-dodgy quality of music played through the iPhone's speaker. He’s designed a portable speaker system that clips around the Apple device to give users better quality audio on the move.

Designer Erik Groset's LiveSpeakR system for the iPhones and iPod Touch

LiveSpeakR was created by 23-year-old Erik Groset, who is pitching the device as a portable boom box. It uses a so-called “3 Click” system that allows either Apple's iPhone or iPod Touch to firstly click into the space between the two speakers. A rotation mechanism then lets users rotate the speakers to sit, say, at either end of the iPhone or to the left and right of its touchscreen.

A stand is built in should you want to sit the speaker system down on a table, with the iPhone’s or Touch’s display titled towards you. Groset claims both speakers are protected from RF interference. Either two AAA batteries or an AC adaptor power LiveSpeakR.

The first LiveSpeakR units aren’t expected to be available until the summer, however it’s not known where it'll will land first or how much it'll will cost.
