Samsung slides out T819 handset
A G600 in sheep's clothing?
Samsung’s lifted the curtain today on its latest slider handset: the SGH-T819.
Samsung's T819: stylish design - shame about the colour...
The G600-esque handset isn’t a ground-breaking phone, but does offer quad-band GSM/GPRS connectivity with Edge. Initially, the handset’s set to be sold exclusively through T-Mobile, which means it comes pre-loaded with some of the network operator’s own apps, such as its myFaves tool for dialling commonly used numbers.
It measures 101 x 51 x 14mm and its 262,166-colour, 176 x 220 screen will display shots snapped on the accompanying 1.3-megapixel camera, which is slightly below-par for a handset cam these days. Bluetooth is included though, along with A2DP for wireless music streaming, and there’s a built-in Micro SD slot for cards of up to 2GB.
The two-tone brown handset also supports instant messaging for AOL, ICQ and Yahoo.
Samsung’s SGH-T819 handset is set to be available through T-Mobile in the US soon, with the phone’s price dependent on the price plan selected. A UK launch hasn’t yet been confirmed.
