Strathclyde Police have confirmed they are investigating a complaint made against Alan Clements, the husband of TV presenter Kirsty Wark, for alleged data theft.

The police said they have received a complaint and are investigating. Clements is in the midst of a court battle over his job. He wants to move from TV producers RDF to Scottish Media Group, but RDF claims this is in breach of non-compete clauses in his contract. Clements joined RDF after it bought IWC Media in 2005 - a production company owned by him and Newsnight presenter Kirsty Wark.

Clements told the court he believed RDF was briefing the media against him and asked Wark's secretary to view emails from former colleagues for him, according to the Telegraph. The judge warned him that he was allowed to refuse to answer questions which would incriminate him.

A spokesman for Strathclyde Police told the Reg: "We have received a complaint. But we are at the very early stages of an investigation - trying to establish whether a crime has in fact been committed and where it has been committed."
