One handset, two SIM cards

Keeping your work and private calls separate without carrying two handsets around could soon be a real possibility. Samsung yesterday unveiled its DuoS D880 handset, which allows owners to use two SIM cards in a single phone.

Users are able to switch between SIM cards without removing the back of their phone, meaning they'll have two networks through which to receive calls, SMS messages, emails and so forth. At this stage, it's not clear whether users can connect to both networks simultaneously, or need to switch between the two manually.
However, the Samsung DuoS D880 isn't the first handset to attempt this. Back in January, Chinese company Doubao launched its own dual-SIM handset, the 728, in the region.
Samsung's D880 is a tri-band GSM handset with Edge connectivity. It has a 2.3in display and a 3.2-megapixel camera, in addition to Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity with A2DP wireless music streaming technology. Other features include a built-in FM radio.
The handset's expected to go on sale in Russia next month for the equivalent of $700 (£350/€400). However, Samsung hasn't yet confirmed if any additional countries will have access to it.
