Leaving the house and realising you've only got five minutes of iPod juice left is like running out of petrol on the motorway. But, while battery company Energizer can't do anything about the latter, it has developed an instant power source for mobile music fans.

Energizer's Energi To Go: recharging with non-rechargeable batteries

The Energi To Go portable power for iPod is essentially a dual Lithium AA battery-powered pack that docks various iPod models, including fourth and fifth generation, the Classic and the Nano models, to provide back-up power when away from a mains socket. For example, the company claims the product can provide 46 hours of music playback on the iPod Nano.

It also incorporates a flip design that allows it to be folded for carrying around in your handbag - or manbag. The product goes on sale across the US next month and will cost around $30 (£15/€21), which includes two Energizer e2 Lithium AA batteries.
