Beeb exterminates Tomorrow's World rumours
Recruits Sexy Beast star for Dr Who baddie role (not Kylie)
Tomorrow's World is yesterday's news following confirmation from the Beeb that the populist science and technology show will not be returning to our small screens any time soon after all.
Big sighs all round, we hear; especially as rumours had suggested a comeback for the live, gadget-happy, anything-can-go-wrong-and-usually-does show.
It ran for nearly four decades before being canned by the BBC in 2003.
It's not completely dead-and-buried though, as BBC News and BBC Breakfast apparently still use the Tomorrow's World format for some technology features, reports the, er, Beeb.
Meanwhile, in other hot property BBC telly-tastic news, the Sun reports that Sir Ben Kingsley, aka Yes! Yes! Yes! Don, aka Gandhi, could be playing a classic Doctor Who baddie in the next series of the show, which begins filming next year.
We at Vulture Central can hardly contain our excitement at the thought of Kingsley appearing on Dr Who as Davros, the notorious, half-man, half-machine creator of the "we will exterminate" Daleks.
Kingsley is famed for a diverse repertoire that has seen him play a political, spiritual Indian leader as well as a man obsessed not so much with Ps and Qs but more Fs and Cs in the role of Don in ace British movie Sexy Beast.
Can we expect to hear lines from Sir Ben that include the likes of:
"You're the fucking problem you fucking Dr White [Who?] honkin' jam-rag fucking spunk-bubble! I'm telling you Aitch [Timelord?] you keep looking at me I'll put you in the fucking ground, promise you!"
Or, indeed, the more cerebral: "You can chain me, you can torture me, you can even destroy this body, but you will never imprison my mind." Only the Time Lord will tell. ®
