The GSM Association (GSMA) thinks mobile innovation is ticking along too slowly, so has launched a programme to help smaller companies pitch their ideas to operators.

Companies must have a turnover of less than £20m, and will be eligible to be nominated for awards at the next few GSMA shows.

Selling applications to network operators can be a frustrating business - unless your application has a direct impact on call or text volumes.

To overcome this, the competition offers an introduction to the senior management of network operators, which the winners will hope will open doors.

The GSMA runs a similar competition with the Global Mobile Awards.

The Mobile Innovation Programme is open for membership now, with nominations closing on 14 September.

The Global Mobile Awards are open from September, and are aimed at larger companies. ®
