Kodak's production line must be hot to the touch now, following its roll out of four "fashionable" compact cameras - the M series - and the addition of two models to its existing high-end Z series.

The M series consists of the M753, M853, M873 and the M883. The range is designed to offer compact and stylish cameras on the one hand - so yes, lots of stainless steel - and to mix high quality digital imaging technology on the other. Well, so Kodak claims, at any rate.

The M753 and M853 are quite similar, as both have 3x optical zoom lenses, together with seven- and eight-megapixel resolutions, respectively. Both have 2.5in LCD displays, digital image stabilisation, a maximum sensitivity of ISO 1250.

Of course, both come in a range of metallic colours too, including black, blue and red, and each measure 9.3 x 7.3 x 2.3cm.

The M873 and M883 are both eight-megapixel offerings with a maximum sensitivity of ISO 1600. Both also have digital image stabilisation, while the M883 is the only camera in the range to feature face-detection technology - flavour of the month in the digital camera world.

The Z1275 and ZD710 cameras expand Kodak's Z range, now stretching to seven models. The compact Z1275 is in some ways the more advanced of the two new models and provides an impressive 12-megapixel sensor and a 5x optical zoom. It also has a 2.5in LCD display and a maximum sensitivity of ISO 3200. It measures 8.8 x 6.3 x 3cm.

The ZD710, a digital SLR, offers a fully-automatic digital zoom, 10x optical zoom but only a 7.4-megapixel image sensor. It has a 2in LCD display and a maximum ISO of 1600.

Kodak's M753 will be available from early July, for around £100 (€148/$199). The M853 and M873 will both be available in August, and the M883 will be available in September. However, pricing is not yet available for any of these three models.

If you're looking for something a little more serious, then the Z1275 and ZD710 will both be available in August, but again, Kodak has yet to say how much they'll cost.
