Windows Mobile handset specialist i-mate is setting the sales forecasts for its new Jama pocket PC almost entirely on physical dimensions, but we can't see what all the fuss is about.

i-mate: Rendezvous with Jama

The Jama is designed for those looking for the functionality of a big-screen smart phone, without the larger-than-average dimensions.

But measuring in at 10.6 x 5.3 x 1.6cm and weighing 110g, the Jama isn't exactly the smallest or lightest kid in the class.

The Jama does sport a generous 2.4in touchscreen, a two-megapixel-camera, a 300Mz Samsung SC32442X processor and a battery capable of providing four hours' talk time.

Also worthy of note is that i-mate has built a Micro SD card slot into its new baby.

The Jama runs Windows Mobile 5.0 - not the latest version, but at least it includes MSN Mobile, Instant Messenger, Media Player 10 Mobile and Internet Explorer.

Another nice benefit is that the phones also supports Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. i-mate has also loaded the Jama with three of its own applications: Profile Controller for profile and ringtone management; Media Control Panel for single-click access to songs and videos from the main menu; and Configurator to automatically locate and set the data connection settings for different countries.

The JAMA is available now, but pricing is not yet available.
