Come 6 October Intel's customers won't be able to order any more Celeron D 300 series processors. Company documents reveal what we believe are the last remaining Celerons, the 347, 356, 360 and 365 are for the chop.

The chip giant's latest product discontinuance notice covers both tray-packed and boxed versions of the Celerons.

The notice comes a week after Intel announced a set of Core-based Pentium processors for both mobile and desktop applications. The Celeron line is due to go Core later this quarter or early Q3 with the 400 series - hence Intel's move to clear the decks of its older, NetBurst architecture-based product.
