Paris Hilton will serve just 23 days of her 45-day sentence for violating her probation on a drink-driving rap, the BBC reports.

Authorities in California have confirmed that the highly-talented heiress has been awarded a "credit for good behaviour" on several grounds, including the rather marvellous fact that she "had appeared at her latest court hearing". She will present herself at the "special needs housing unit" of Century Regional Detention Centre in the LA suburb of Lynwood by 5 June to commence her truncated spell in chokey.

Hilton will not, however, be reduced to repelling the sexual advances of other inmates in the showers or breaking rocks. During her time in the block containing "12 cells, each holding two people" and reserved for "celebrities, public officials, police officers, and other high-profile inmates", she'll be separated from most of the other lags.

Furthermore, she'll be granted all the privileges accorded to all inmates, including "at least an hour out of her cell each day to shower, watch TV, take part in outdoor recreation, or use the phone". ®
