Sony Ericsson's spring handset launch - out of which sprang the revamped P series smart phone and the "nature inspired" S500 fashion phone - also the launch of a pair of lesser models.

First, the T250, a low-end handset with high-end looks inspired by the new T650. The basic model is a dual-band phone with a 0.3-megapixal camera and a 1.7in, 128 x 160, 65,536-colour display. Measuring 10 x 4.5 x 1.3cm, it's thin but packs a big enough battery to bring up to seven hours' talk time.

The T650 is essentially a candybar version of the slider-equipped S500. It's a very skinny 12.5mm thick, packs in a 3.2-megapixel auto-focus main camera and a lesser front-mounted snapper for video calls: the T650 is a 3G phone.

It's also a tri-band GSM/GPRS device and sports a 1.9in, 240 x 320, 262,144-colour screen. It has 16MB of memory, expandable using Memory Stick Micro cards - there's a 256MB card in the box. Coming in at 10.4 x 4.6 x 1.3cm, it's barely bigger than the 2.5G T250.

Like the S500, the T650 has is has illlumation effects built in, but not the fancier phone's time-triggered "ever-changing" on-screen themes.

The T650 will be offered in a choice of two colours – "Growing Green and Midnight Blue" – and goes on sale in Q3. So does the T250, which will be offered in a choice of silver or black".
