BT has released more details of its spanking new group strategy and operations division, aimed at improving technology roll-out across the firm.

Last week, BT said it had appointed Andy Green to head a drive to better coordinate IP product development and deployment across BT's four businesses: retail, wholesale, global services, and Openreach, ahead of the nationwide switch to its new 21CN central network.

The move created two business units under the strategy and operations umbrella, BT Design and BT Operate. Today BT announced that remaining group CIO Al-Noor Ramji will also become CEO of BT Design. As boss of the now-defunct BT Exact, he was key to BT's offshoring manoeuvres earlier this decade.

Roel Louwhoff will take the corresponding vacancy at BT Operate, moving from his current job as president of customer services and network operation and global services.

BT also said the group's CTO, Matt Bross, would continue his role as part of group strategy and operations. The changes are effective from 1 July. BT's announcement is here. ®
