Ipswich-based business ISP KeConnect has been bought by larger Nottinghamshire outfit Timico. Financial details of the deal have not been released.

Privately-held KeConnect has about 6,000 subscribers to its ADSL service. Its two directors will continue to run it as a standalone subsidiary. Timico hopes to use its latest acquisition's dealer network to upsell clients to its range of VoIP and other services.

Timico chairman Tim Radford said: "By combining the two companies, we achieve a strategic opportunity to further increase the value of our business by gaining a customer base into which we are able to sell multiple services."

Timico was founded in 2004 and quickly swallowed competitor Atlas.

Timico was unavailable for further comment on how the deal would affect customers. A source at KeConnect said subscribers should be totally unaffected. ®
